Podcasts
I played around with podcast.net to discover some useful tools for locating podcasts. Nice tool for finding, downloading and listening to free jazz music. They provide streaming music as well.
YouTube
I think YouTube is mostly social junk. However, I did find it useful. I was able to view my favorite jazz musician live and share it with others. There were numerous jazz performances I want to view.
Online productivity Tools
I looked at both Google docs and Zoho writer. I liked Zoho writer best. Here is what it can do:
* Access from anywhere
Access, edit, share documents from anywhere.
* Create and edit documents your way
Create, edit and re-format documents using our WYSIWYG editor.
* Collaborative editing of documents.
Allow multiple users to work on a document simultaneously.
* Load your existing documents
Import Microsoft Word (DOC), OpenOffice text (ODT & SXW), HTML, RTF, JPG, GIF PNG files.
* Share, don't attach
Share documents with your friends or publish them for public view.

The Sandbox
I read several entries from the pages of the sandbox. They gaqve me lots to think about. I also made an entry ny self. It is called "One moment too many in the think tank." Take a look.
Wikis
I found the wikis most exciting. Especially Groove Office. I was presently surprised to see so many libraries using wikis. I looked at Booklover's wiki, ALA's 2007 wiki and of course Groove Office wiki - templates. I book marked Groove Office for further use!
Del.icio.us
Del.icio.us sounds like something you would say after eating a great meal:) However, in reality, it is just another social bookmaking site. some say that you can think of it as peering into another users’ filing cabinet, but with this powerful bookmarking tool each user's filing cabinet helps to build an expansive knowledge network. I have used some of these samples. Quicktime, I use for music and movies. I also have used bookfinder.com to locate very old books for interlibrary loan customers who can't find what they want on MARINA is a social bookmarking manager which allows you to bookmark a web page and add tags to categorize your bookmarks.

Rollyo
I had already created something close to this on my own computer. I used byblos's Rare Book Search Engine to access results from my hand-selected list of sites to fine rare books for interlibrary loan customers. Today ot was via Rollyo. Excellent tool!
Library Thing
Library Thing was pretty cool. I think I might just use this to find some of those OCLC requests that are hard to find. I did catalog my YA staff summer reading list. Nice Tool!
Online Image Generator
I played around with Susie Que; that;s what I call her. I changed her look completely, I gave her honey brown skin color, beautiful brown eyes and kinky short hair. Now she looks like me!
RSS in Plain English
Who knew? RSS stands for 'Really Simple Syndication' I've seen them on many websites and use them all the time to get regular updated information. "Feed me" Enough already.
RSS feeds and Bloglines newsreaders
This exercise was intensive. It is sort of like junk email--It just keeps coming. I tried a technology new feed and my pod feed was LIBVIBE. Enough already!
What I think about Flickr
My favorite pointers to life long lerning
My favorite pointer to life long learning is to have fun. If it is judger y, you just won't do it. I did like the idea that it is never too late and of course we all know that attitude is everything. So I say, PLAY, PLAY and just have fun!

I finished the 23 things!
Hello everyone,
I am happy to say that I have completed the 23 things. It was a lot of fun. I learned a lot in these few weeks. I think that is what I appreciated the most--learning new things. I hope there is more to come! This all gives me a lot to think about!

Web 2 Awards List
I'll make this short and sweet. I visited 'goowy' and it was not bad. I have seen better though. The email component is similar to outlook; offering the calendar as well as groupings. I give it 2 stars.

My thoughts on Web 2.0 and Library 2.9
This was a good read; but I'm sure you know that:
Library 2.0 is term used to describe a new set of concepts for developing and delivering library services. The name, as you may guess, is an extension of Web2.0 and shares many of its same philosophies and concepts including harnessing the user in both design and implementation of services, embracing constant change as a development cycle over the traditional notion of upgrades, and reworking library services to meet the users in their space, as opposed to ours (libraries).

Learning about Technorati
Who knew:
according to Technorati, the leading search tool and authority for blogs, the number of blogs doubles just about every 6 months with over 51 million blogs currently being tracked by the site. If the blogging trend continues, it is estimated that Technorati will have tracked its 100 millionth blog in just 5 months.--Peace Out!

Thinking about technology
New technology is everywhere you go. We can't get enought of this stuff! I can't brush the few teeth I have left without going on line and needing a username and password to register my tooth brush! I have so many usernames and passwords that I have them on a two page spreadsheet. God help me if I lose that spreadsheet. Oh, I keep a copy on the computer:0 But, what if I forget the usernames and passwords to my three computer?? I guess I am cooked! Today alone I had to create usernames and passwords for flickr, yahoo, google, et. I guess I will have to do another spreadsheet! What do you think?
This is what I'm thinking........
Right now I am thinking about my next Jazz adventure. Clifford Brown's Jazz Festival in DE next week. So far the summer has been lots of hot jazzy summer nights. Capitol Jazz fest was a blast; but was so hot, you could have cooked a egg on my husband's head! I have too much hair for that! Boy, was I suprised to see several of my neighbors at the Kim Water Jazz concert at HCC. I would have guessed that they were into country music:) I even saw HCPL staff there. We were so close to the stage that I could see Kim sweat. He kept starring at me. Joe said it was because I was sitting next to him (Joe.) don't blame me because I'm beautiful:0 Hey, if anyone is interested: Every Friday night in August there is free jazz at Penns Landing on the waterfron in the city of brotherly love PA. Maybe next time I will be thinking about the work that is piling up back at the ranch. Halla back--Julia
